Tour Introduction

Right between those two historic settlements of Zagreb is the Dolac Market – a buzzing and colourful square with local vendors selling their goods from all over the country. Meet your local private chef there and start bargaining for the ingredients you will need for your cooking class.

Starting from your hotel, you will enjoy the architecture, history and numerous intriguing stories while walking through picturesque and dynamic streets that reflect the city’s both hectic and slow-paced lifestyle. A ride in a funicular, Zagreb´s oldest and one of the shortest public transportation routes in the world, will take you to the Upper Town, locally called Grič or Gradec – one of the two historic settlements of Zagreb. Accompanied by the stories told by our guide, you will enjoy the charm of the Strossmayer promenade, explore the historic urban nucleus and witness the many curiosities of the city. Having descended through the only preserved medieval gate of Gradec and crossing the lively Tkalčićeva street, you will stop for a visit to the Zagreb Cathedral and Kaptol, another historic settlement, now the seat of the Roman Catholic archbishop of Zagreb.

Right between those two historic settlements of Zagreb is the Dolac Market – a buzzing and colourful square with local vendors selling their goods from all over the country. Meet your local private chef there and start bargaining for the ingredients you will need for your cooking class.

The cooking menu offers numerous possibilities, since Croatia`s geographical and cultural diversity means great heterogeneity when it comes to cuisine. However, when touring the continental parts of Croatia, we recommend trying the delicacies of the region, such as “mlinci” (pasta) and “štrukli” (dough with various fresh filling options), trademarks of the Zagorje region. Good food paired with excellent local wines in a pleasant company will round this tour in the best possible way.
