Our recent journey to this enchanting destination was not just a business trip; it was an immersive experience that seamlessly blended professional networking with the exploration of Sicily’s rich cultural tapestry.
The focal point of our visit was the prestigious Mirabilia Network event, a three-day affair that brought together SMEs, buyers, and sellers from the tourism sector. Held at the exquisite Hotel Aktea in Lipari, this event was a hub of dynamic interactions, insights, and partnerships.

Over the two-day business event, we had the privilege of engaging with more than 30 buyers from the luxury travel market, representing diverse corners of the globe. The exchange of ideas, collaborations, and forging of connections were invaluable, setting the stage for exciting future ventures in the world of destination management.

As soon as the sun dipped below the horizon, we were eager to do some exploration of the volcanic rock island. Venturing into Lipari’s settlements, we soaked in the local atmosphere, socialized with the warm-hearted inhabitants, and indulged in the authentic Sicilian cuisine. The island’s culinary delights added a flavorful layer to our experience, making each evening a celebration of Sicilian hospitality.

Buying locally-made souvenir is a must. Giorgio here complained his son won’t take over a prosperous business held for three generations.

We opted for street food, and of course, nothing beats Sicilian arancini
Post-event, we seized the opportunity to traverse Sicily and strengthen ties with our partners. The journey led us through the iconic Taormina, the historic Piazza Armerina with the renowned Villa dell Casale, and picturesque villages along the way.

A highlight of our trip was stopping at a local oleificio, where we engaged in enlightening conversations with olive oil producers, gaining insights into their craft and traditions.

Guided by the lovely and knowledgeable Silvia, our exploration continued to Syracuse and Noto, two gems that showcased Sicily’s rich history and architectural splendor. Silvia’s expertise added depth to our visit, turning each historical site into a vibrant chapter in Sicily’s narrative.

Since Syracuse’s history is deeply rooted into our heritage through Dionysius the Great and his decision to move from Carthage aspirations to Eastern Adriatic coast, thus forming the first organized civilization structures on our part of the Mediterranean, this visit was immensely important for us. We have a program that we just released, connected to the arrival of Syracusan Greeks to our islands, and you can find it here.

Our business and leisure odyssey in Sicily was a harmonious blend of professional growth and personal enrichment. The networking event opened doors to global collaborations, while our journey across Sicily allowed us to delve into its cultural, culinary, and historical treasures. As we return, we carry with us not just business prospects but also memories of Sicily’s allure, a destination that captivates both the heart and the business spirit. Stay tuned for the exciting ventures that will unfold from this Sicilian sojourn!
