Two Historical Republics – Poljica & Dubrovnik

A trip from Split to Dubrovnik truly doesn’t need to be a cliché, such as the widely popular island hopping tour or a scenic drive along the motorway. Unlike the more standard visits to Croatia’s coastal pearls of Split and Dubrovnik, this tour offers you an insight into the significance that the administratively and politically independend territorial units of Poljička Knežija (Village Principality) and Dubrovačka Republika (Dubrovnik Republic) had for the entire area. The Village Principality, which had its own legal system, continuously existed for 700 years, which is longer even than Dubrovnik Republic, making it a European phenomenon. In this tour we will pay a visit to the landmarks that testify to a rich life throughout the history of both of these republics and become acquainted with the culture, landscapes and daily life of the indigenous population.

Group size: 1-16 max.

Ventula put together a great tour for us. The destinations were a good mix of what inland Croatia and Slovenia have to offer, the recommended restaurants were great, and the personal guides made the trip a total pleasure. We felt we had a fantastic scenic and cultural experience. I would...
