DESCRIPTION
This tour takes you to the island of Hvar, first and foremost to the town of Hvar – an ancient bay town boasting remarkable architecture and stunning nature. With its vivid pulse, a unique central town square, medieval palaces, fortresses, and artworks that have originated from within its walls, it is no wonder that it tops the priority list of most travellers.
The reasonably-lasting walking tour of the town will start from the top – the Fortica, a fortress that offers delightful views on the town itself and the nearby cluster of islets called the Paklinski Islands. Slowly descending towards the charming port, you will visit St. Stephen`s cathedral, the 13th century Arsenal with one of the coolest European theatres, see the Town Loggia with its clock and many more treasures of Europe’s sunniest island.
Later we will continue driving towards a completely different, intimate atmosphere of a small village in which the only noise you can hear is the cheery bird chirping. The village lies in the middle of nowhere, with picturesque gardens of various vegetables and herbs, nurtured by the mild Mediterranean climate and offering a landscape divorced from the modern-day reality.
Your lovely and open-hearted host will treat you with some interesting facts about the village history and the principal reasons for why the villages are being abandoned nowadays. After some quality time spent on learning and enjoying your teacher´s company, you will finally taste what is probably your very first self-made Croatian dish. Delicious, soft meat bathed in red wine and infused with wild rosemary and lavender; or the gregada, made from freshly caught fish, will definitely impress any true foodie. So, roll up your sleeves and partake in this truly unique experience, where you will be treated as a family member.
This part can be customized into a cooking class experience; all you need to do is let us know what kind of food preparation you are interested in, so we can arrange everything in accordance with your needs.
